Davis Instruments 6490 UV Radiation Sensor

Davis Instruments 6490 UV Radiation Sensor

The Davis Instruments UV Sensor is a precision instrument that detects ultraviolet (UV) radiation at wavelengths of 290 to 390 nanometers. The spectral response is closely matched to the Erythema Action Spectrum, defined by McKinlay and Diffey (1987) and internationally recognised as the radiation that is most responsible for causing redness of the human skin.

This allows you to measure UV index, dose rate, and daily and accumulated dose with a sufficiently complex controller.

The sensors can be added to one of our Davis weather stations (though the "Plus" models already include this sensor) or used with our UV-Solar-Wind to Modbus gateway.

The diffuser on the top of the sensor provides an excellent cosine response. The two-piece housing minimizes radiation heating, allows convection cooling of the sensor, and prevents the trapping of water or dust. The body includes a built-in spirit level.

The sensor has a 0.9 m (3') cable.
