SparkFun's Logomatic v2 has been an incredibly popular data logger but is not really suitable for people who are not electronically trained or cannot solder. Ocean Controls designed a carrier board and enclosure for the Logomatic to make it simpler for people to connect to and use. The KTA-265 includes the enclosure, carrier board and Logomatic v2 datalogger.

The KTB-265 is this item without the Logomatic included.

All input/output connections are via screw terminals. Current shunts and internal jumpers allow the logging of industry-standard 4 to 20 mA current loop signals. A level shifter and DE-9 connector provide a standard RS-232 connection for serial logging.

The Logomatic datalogger records serial data and up to 8 analog readings to text files on a microSD card. A mini USB connection allows the device to appear as a mass storage device on any operating system. Configuration is achieved by editing a text file on the SD card. The USB connection also charges the internal lithium-polymer battery.

A 900 mAh battery (no longer included) will run the logger for about 12 hours worst case, and much longer when logging only a few channels and at low duty. External power (3.6 to 7.5 VDC) can be applied to run the unit without draining the battery.

The Logomatic v2 ships with basic serial text and analog logging. Users can easily start with this firmware but are encouraged to modify the firmware for their specific requirements. It's a truly flexible logger.
