The MOD-W-1 uses a two or three prong conductive probe to control the level of liquid in a tank or other storage container.

The unit is a transformer based conductive probe level control relay, hence available in dedicated AC voltages only. The sensitivity is adjustable from 2 to 100 kΩ, via the on-board potentiometer. Another potentiometer enables the user to adjust the delay on the tripping timer from 0.1 to 10 secs to prevent false activation from liquid movement. The probe supply from the MOD-W1 is an isolated 20 VAC @ 2 mA. The MOD-W1 will work successfully with cables up to 200 m from the probes.

It also features an eight-way function switch (designated A to H) that allows user to switch between "pump up" & "pump down" modes along with a relay proving function "permanent on" or "permanent off". The switch will also determine how the adjustable time delay will function.

The function positions are as follow:

  • A: Pump up, delay on energisation & de-energisation
  • B: Pump down, delay on energisation & de-energisation
  • C: Pump up, delay on energisation
  • D: Pump down, delay on energisation
  • E: Pump up, delay on de-energisation
  • F: Pump down, delay on de-energisation
  • G: Relay proving, permanent on
  • H: Relay proving, permanent off

Function explanation:

  • Regulation of two levels - pump down mode: The relay energises when the high level probe is reached and de-energises when the level falls below the low level probe.
  • Regulation of two levels - pump up mode:  The relay de-energises when the high level probe is reached and energises when the level falls below the low level probe.
  • Regulation of one level - pump down mode: Connect the maximum and the common terminals together. In this case, only a single probe is used and the relay operates when the probe is immersed.

A common reference is always required, if the vessel/tank is conductive the chassis of the tank or vessel will suffice. If the vessel/tank is not conductive a third probe is required to act as the comment reference, which has our SKU: NTS-050
