LabJack T4 - Ethernet and USB Multifunction DAQ Unit
The T4 is a USB or Ethernet multi function DAQ device with up to 12 analogue inputs or 16 digital I/O, 2 analog outputs (10-bit), and multiple digital counters/timers.
Labjack has just released their new T4 DAQ device. The T4 is a USB or Ethernet multifunction DAQ device with up to 12 analogue inputs or 16 digital I/O, 2 analog outputs (10-bit), and multiple digital counters/timers for data logging, data acquisition, measurement and control applications. Kipling is available for basic configuration and testing, and a selection of charting and logging software is also available. Also supports the Modbus TCP protocol for industrial applications.
The LabJack modules come with Windows software that allows you to be quickly up and logging and graphing data.Â
The T4 is much like its bigger brother, the T7, in that it supports the LJM driver (and many other software options) for easy cross-platform programming (Windows, Mac OS X / macOS, Linux and various ARM-based Linux distributions), Modbus register access to every device attribute and the ability to run on-board Lua scripts using Kipling. The T4 also includes the same Ethernet communication interface that the T7 supports (allowing for two clients to be simultaneously connected) and is a Modbus TCP/UDP server. The T4 differentiates itself from the T7 by incorporating many popular features from the U3-HV such as high and low voltage analogue inputs and flexible I/O lines. The T4 series devices are our lowest cost devices with Ethernet connectivity. They are also capable of stand-alone operation by running Lua scripts.
Flexible I/O:
The 8 I/O lines marked as FIO4-FIO7 and EIO0-EIO3 are flexible I/O lines. This means they can be individually configured as digital input, digital output, or analog input lines. When configured as digital I/O, they can be used as general purpose 3.3V logic lines, can be configured for the timers/counters sub-system, or can be used as SPI, I2C, or other digital communication protocol lines. When configured as analog inputs, they are 0-2.5V analog inputs with up to 12 bits of resolution.
High Voltage Analog Inputs:
The first 4 I/O lines on the LabJack T4 are dedicated high voltage analog inputs. Their voltage range is ±10V with 12 bits of resolution. For more details, look in the T4 datasheet.
Analog Outputs:
The LabJack T4 has 2 analog outputs (DAC0 and DAC1). Each analog output can be set between 0 and 5V with 10 bits of resolution.
Timers:
The T4 has multiple hardware timers that provide options such as PWM output, pulse/period timing, pulse counting, and quadrature input.
Counters:
The T4 has multiple hardware counters that can be used for detecting pin toggles.
